I admit(sit down it is a shocker)I had no clue what I would do a few years ago and I really do understand why many do not have a plan.

Thankful for posts like these that helped learn not only why, but how.agirlandhergunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08369419666474343639noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031819490572301756.post-52202535165206604162013-06-14T01:10:13.338-05:002013-06-14T01:10:13.338-05:00I must confess my go bag is kinda "fat" ...I must confess my go bag is kinda "fat" - more than enough to get 2 people by for 3 days. But, a good question. Some thoughts.

Ask if they have a go bag along. Will give you a chance at educating them and let them know the average prepper isn't some kind of nut-case.

Play "what if" in your head. Where could you stop for a quick kit? My go-to stuff for food is jerkey, cliff bars, some hard candy. Couple bags/boxes of each will get you a long way.

If you feel things going "south" - trust yourself and stop, gather supplies and fill your traveling partner in on what you're doing and why.

You should also know if they're armed. I simply ask. They may not know the laws of the cities/counties/states you're traveling through and you don't need surprises.

I'm sure there's more but that's what came to mind.

Thanks for stopping by - have a good one!eiaftinfohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13595068743383767561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031819490572301756.post-75080315824212274372013-06-13T23:11:25.485-05:002013-06-13T23:11:25.485-05:00What do you do when traveling (short or long dista...What do you do when traveling (short or long distance) with someone you suspect doesn't have a go bag? It took nearly 15 years of use to get ready to upgrade to the Outfitter model. Great tents. Survival work is fun actually, most people have no idea how easy it is to create good shelter from the materials at hand.

Brighid - it's funny how people are shocked at a loaded pack in the back of my Jeep - yet wouldn't get in their car without insurance . . . . just sayin'. And fully agree a camp by a lake tops a hotel any day of the week.eiaftinfohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13595068743383767561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031819490572301756.post-45988150905476958362013-06-09T11:23:23.286-05:002013-06-09T11:23:23.286-05:00My family & friends laugh about my go bags, an...My family & friends laugh about my go bags, and camping gear. I laugh too, secure in the knowledge that I could handle most situations.
I would take a night in a tent by a mountain lake over a fancy hotel room anytime.Brighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11299215170393879517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031819490572301756.post-77766836363011073802013-06-08T22:17:50.311-05:002013-06-08T22:17:50.311-05:00Still got an old A-frame tent ordered from the Boy...Still got an old A-frame tent ordered from the Boy Scout catalog way back when! Also have a larger tent that will fit the wife and daughter as well, and several tarps in various sizes. Haven't done the "natural" shelter in quite some time, but I camped a lot with a guy who was out practicing his wilderness survival skills, and slept through a south Georgia thunderstorm (almost as impressive as Texas thunderstorms) of sufficient ferocity to erode a 20' deep canyon across the causeway around the lake at the campground. He woke up dry the next morning.RabidAlienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07035887632706442114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031819490572301756.post-54904350972069618342013-06-08T14:03:22.958-05:002013-06-08T14:03:22.958-05:00I'm betting 95% of the folks today have NO ide...I'm betting 95% of the folks today have NO idea what they would do...
